I received action alert notices today in my email. I’d like to share a couple of links with you, quote some words from one of the emails, then add some words of my own in closing. In this bill, Harry Reid has rejected the bipartisan Stupak Amendment, which applies the longstanding federal policy of the Hyde Amendment to the health care reform bill passed by the House of Representatives by banning federal dollars from paying for elective abortions and health insurance plans that cover elective abortions.

Instead the bill proposed by Harry Reid authorizes Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebellius [sp. in the original] to use taxpayer dollars to pay for elective abortions from the public option.

It also pours taxpayer dollars into health insurance plans that cover elective abortions in the federal exchange.

This blatant disrespect towards the conscience of the United States taxpayer on this issue is unacceptable.

I know that some people are for forced taxpayer funding of abortions, but the majority of people in this country are not. The majority of people in this country don’t think of abortion as contributing to the common good, and they shouldn’t have to pay for it. There are those who do think of it as both good and that we should be forced to pay for it, but they are not in the mainstream. They are not in the majority. After the 2008 election I heard an awful lot of people say that the majority had spoken, so let it be. Well, the majority has spoken about real healthcare reform and the travesty we have in Washington right now is not healthcare reform but deform. Abortion is not healthcare, no kind of killing or murdering is healthcare. Murder of anyone for any reason whatsoever by anyone anywhere at any time is murder and murder cannot be twisted into or be considered as any kind of healthcare. Not abortion, not euthanasia, not any kind of killing or murder of any sort whatsoever. Ever.
