Blind

Every time I see this image
it makes me ill.
That cold stare
With the One Who is Love
and Mercy right there
in front of him
and he cannot see.
How blind can that guy be?
As blind as you and me.

These lines were composed after the Rosary as a spontaneous reply to someone else’s comment on a different image used in the Rosary that night for the Second Sorrowful Mystery, June 19, 2020, at 8:40pm CDT.

Image by Jason Jenicke. See a larger image of the artwork at the Mysteries of the Rosary at the artist’s website. You may recognize several of his paintings which were used in Mother Angelica’s Rosary with the Nuns on EWTN.
