Embryos breathe according to Biology of Prenatal Development, distributed by NatGeo

Biology of Prenatal Development DVD

I read in a comment recently that the preborn do not breathe. Well, here is the refutation of that in the DVD, Biology of Prenatal Development (available from National Geographic, thanks for pointing that out, Jesurgislac), quoted below from the documentation and script on the EHD website.

From Chapter 34 “Breathing” Motion and Urination:

Although there is no air in the uterus, the embryo displays intermittent breathing motions by 8 weeks.[100]

See my previous post, Human from the moment of conception, for more on this. I’ll be writing about this as time goes on, as I learn more.

    1. You’re welcome, Luce. :) I hope you’ll get a copy of the DVD too. I’m looking forward to getting mine soon. I can hardly wait to watch it. And add it to my growing list of things I plan to review here. :)
