Act of Spiritual Communion

Circumstances may make it difficult or impossible to attend the Mass in person, as we’ve seen with the lockdowns, and also with illness or disability. In these situations one may make a devout act of spiritual communion. The coronavirus has led to a widespread lifting of the Sunday obligation, but hopefully that is coming to an end. Read more about spiritual communion, what it is and what it isn’t.

My Jesus, I believe that Thou art present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love Thee above all things and I desire Thee in my soul. Since I cannot now receive Thee sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though thou wert already there, I embrace Thee and unite myself wholly to Thee; permit not that I should ever be separated from Thee.
