The Divine Mercy Devotion: Five Decades and Five Special Intentions

Pope St. John Paul II was staunchly pro-life. In addition to many of his writings he left us his Five Special Intentions for use with the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy, aimed at ending abortion and the culture of death. You’ll find them below with the five decade prayers of the chaplet. They’re also included in the Rosary Project. Just doing my small part to help make this devotion known. We also offer the Divine Mercy Chaplet for the dying and for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. I have offered it in hospital rooms and in homes for the dying. And outside of abortuaries. Have mercy on us, Lord, and on the whole world!

First decade: For mothers, that they not abort their offspring.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (10x)

Second decade: For infants in danger of being put to death in the womb

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (10x)

Third decade: For a change of heart of providers of abortions and of their collaborators

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (10x)

Fourth decade: For human victims of stem cell research, genetic manipulation, cloning, and euthanasia

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (10x)

Fifth decade: For all entrusted with the government of peoples, that they may promote the Culture of Life, so as to put an end to the culture of death.
