Latest cover idea for the Rosary ebooks. Getting better, I think.

+JMJ+ You may have wondered, if you’ve wandered through the Rosary Project pages on the blog, what that other phase was that I’ve mentioned here and there for a few moons (maybe more than a few). I’ve been pondering, too, of what that phase might consist. Well, wonder no more because, by golly, I think I’ve got it! 

Announcing the Rosary Project 3.0: Rosary Project Ebooks! You can see a mockup of a possible cover I worked up tonight, at the top of this post. (Okay, I can hear some of you now, channeling my mom, “Is it gonna look like that??” I dunno how it’s gonna look, I only just started thinking about a cover tonight!) Anyway, back to my big announcement: Now–well, soon from the comfort of your own comfy chair or sofa or wherever you like to read (ahem!), you can enjoy the Rosary Project in ebook form on your favorite ebook reader! Or at least you will be able to when I finish them. I’ve been hard at work, deciding what to do, learning how to do it, creating, structuring, arranging the project in my favorite writing software (Scrivener, of course!), putting the basic texts into it, making notes as I go along about what I think will or won’t work, what I need to add, what would be ever so cool to include. And the project has grown from one little ebook to two, and from two to ten. Count ‘em, TEN ebooks, from one with the traditional Rosary with the traditional three sets of Mysteries, to ebooks with those Mysteries plus the Luminous Mysteries, to keep everybody happy. Don’t want to pray the Luminous Mysteries? Perfectly alright, you don’t even have to see them. Do want to pray the Luminous Mysteries? Perfectly alright again, just get the one that has them. 

All of the ebooks will contain the Rosary itself, but I’m also planning to have artwork like what we have in the Live Twitter Rosary Threads (see links in the Rosary Project Live Archives and on the pages of the Rosary Project on the blog. I’ll use public domain artwork like I’ve been doing, plus a few pieces that I may actually pay for if we sell enough books for me to afford it. I have to credit the ones that have to be credited. So many things to think about. I need to make a list! (Actually, I already have. Several!) So the first one will be basic, indeed. BUT the ones to follow will have more artwork, and I’ll include full-page images where I can get them with decent enough quality. 

But, wait, there’s more! I’ll be adding texts to ebooks down the line: some that’s in the public domain, and as time goes on, some other texts that I don’t want to say too much about yet. All in good time, all in good time. 

Printed volumes are a project for further down the road. Much more goes into a printed project. I’m not saying not ever, just not right now. For now I’m only planning digital books.

If you’ve been watching the righthand sidebar on the blog, maybe you’ve noticed the progress meter for the ebooks. It’s set at 50,000 words for the goal because that’s what NaNoWriMo’s word count goal is. Now, I’m not doing NaNoWriMo exactly, I’m not writing a novel. (Not yet, that is. I do have a fiction project in the works, but I probably won’t get much done on that until after I get the Rosary ebooks finished, at least some of them. But all I have right now is a couple of ideas for two different ebooks. More about that later.)

I tried to keep all of this to myself, but I find that having a goal that I’ve made public is a sure way to motivate me to actually work on my project instead of merely thinking and talking about it. Apparently I need the prospect of public and abject humiliation to get me going. So I’m sharing this with y’all so that the sheer terror of failure in front of you will push shove me along.

Also on the sidebar you may have noticed the tip jar. Thank you for making use of it, your gift is appreciated more than you can know. I’m trying to find a way to set up a monthly recurring subscription type thingy with certain freebies and rewards. I thought PayPal would do it, but so far that dang widget just keeps saying, “I’m sorry, Lee. I’m afraid I can’t do that.” 😮

I’ll find a way. I want to offer specials and freebies to everybody on the email list because I am mighty grateful to all of y’all, every dawggone one of ya. 2020 has been a hellacious year and I’m bound and determined that 2021 is going to be different, and not just different, but better, WAY, WAY better! All of these projects that I’ve been mulling over in my mind are becoming realities starting NOW. So keep an eye on that sidebar, more project progress meters will be appearing there. And subscribe to blog updates in your email inbox, if you haven’t already, to keep up-to-date with what’s happening. Cuz stuff is happening and I am thrilled about it! Can ya tell?
