Tired of people taking you to task for daring to speak up about the teachings of Christ and His Church? Feeling overwhelmed by overly zealous secularists insisting that you should be silent in the public square? Tempted to respond to insulting remarks and absurd accusations with a few angry retorts of your own? Then this prayer by Jim Pinto, Jr., is for you. And for me.

The Face Prayer

Heavenly Father, I embrace your grace this day,
So that I might not:
Think of another,
Speak to another or
Touch another,
without first looking for
Your Face in the other.
I ask all this through
Jesus Christ:
God Incarnate,
God with Skin,
God made Poor,
God with a Face. Amen!

I’ve got that old feeling. You know the one where you feel like someone’s kicked you in the stomach and you feel like you’re going to be sick? Yeah, that one. Same one I had back in 2008 when I heard so many of my fellow Americans channeling Saul Alinsky and getting that glazed look in their eyes every time they chanted Obama’s name. Hate to say I told you so but…I told you so. My Democrat friends told me we just had to agree to disagree and that Obama’s commitment to radical abortion policy was only an appearance and reality, merely a few campaign promises to garner support. That’s how politics works, right? Everybody does it. Right?

Yeah. How’s that rhetoric sounding to you now, pal? Empty? Absurd? Naive? Incredibly stupid, even?

I’m in the middle of working on a series of novels but I can’t think of anything but this right now, so even though I’m right in the middle of working on a series of novels, I’m going to take some time to read up on what’s happening with HHS before I get back to the novels and before I write any more here.

I’ll leave you with a couple of links. EWTN and Priests for Life are suing over this. The Becket Fund, Family Research Council, Human Life International, and LifeSiteNews are other great sources for information on the issue. Please sign the petition at the Becket Fund. And please share all of this information with your friends and family. It’s not only Catholics who are losing their liberty. It’s every person in this country. Each and every one, whether they realize it or not.

More later. Right now I have to get home, do some reading, listening, thinking…and praying. Lots of praying. Lord, have mercy, Ephesians 6 is running through my mind right now, reminding me that our fight is not with flesh and blood. And I believe the fight has only just begun. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

For those who have been praying for Baby Joseph, hopeful news

For anyone who has been following the case of Baby Joseph in a Canadian hospital (see my earlier post), and who had heard that a hospital in Michigan might be willing to come to the rescue of Joseph and his family–well, that hospital chickened out. But there is still hope. Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life has offered to go to Canada to help the family, even if he has to fly back from Rome, where he has been in meetings at the Vatican, to do it.

I’ll post another update when I hear more. Please keep praying for this family and about their situation. Lord, have mercy, all these poor people want is to take care of their baby in their loving home until he passes away. They’re not asking for heroic measures or expensive treatment! Canada, let this baby go!

Dr. Alveda King is the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and works closely with Priests for Life in the Silent No More Awareness Campaign. I hope I get to see her while I’m in Washington D.C. this weekend. That’s right, I just booked my room and I’m planning the rest of my trip now. I’ll be heading up there either tomorrow or early Wednesday. I can’t tell you how excited I am. I was just a little kid when Dr. ML King was marching for the civil rights of black Americans. I am greatly looking forward to marching in solidarity with his niece in the civil rights movement of today: the right to life of every human being from conception (preferably natural, though once a life has begun, that life is sacred, no matter the circumstances of his or her beginning) to natural death.
