I hope you’re having a Merry Christmas. That greeting sounds strange at the beginning of a post about a day devoted to the Holy Innocents. After all the joy of Christmas Eve and Day, and the celebration honoring the Holy Family, now we have this. In honor of the day I’ll share some artwork I’ve found while gathering art for the Rosary Project, and a couple of video commentaries I found, too. What an utterly shocking feast day the Massacre of the Holy Innocents always is. These paintings capture that well, I think. The one above shows the Holy Family in the upper corners. The one below gets to me. It’s hard for me to say more about it right now. I will say, look at the baby’s right side. There’s a wound there already. Foreshadowing?Continue reading “The Light and the darkness”
A few days ago I subscribed to the Mass Readings Explained by Dr. Brant Pitre (link at the end of this post). I’m posting a sample of the video about the Solemnity from that series below. Even this little sample will help you answer those who don’t understand that what the Church teaches about the Blessed Mother is important, and not only important but necessary. To understand (and also to protect) what the Church teaches about Jesus we must understand (and protect) what the Church teaches about the Blessed Virgin Mary.Continue reading “Blessed Solemnity of the Mother of God, Happy New Year!”
Merry Christmas to all of you out there from all of us in here. Us, meaning The Pack™, the dogs and me; and in here, meaning here at the house where we are all snug in our beds with visions of sugarplums dancing in our heads. Well, not really. The dogs are snoring and probably not dreaming of sugarplums, not having the foggiest notion of what those might be and I’m not sure I do, either. ;) And I’m obviously not sleeping or dreaming, I’m tapping away on the keyboard and annoying said dogs as they try to sleep. But not annoying them too much as they long ago learned how to ignore me at any time of day or night.
All blither-blathering aside, I just wanted to say Merry Christmas to you and since I already have, I’ll bid you good night! Good night!
The photo above is of my nativity set from years past. Took the photo in 2012. Since then a friend has given me a Fontanini set and she and my sister have given me more figures. But have I taken a proper photo of that one and edited it for Christmas? Why, thank you for asking, and no, I have not. I’ll put that on my list right now for next year. That way I might have it done by, oh, I don’t know, the turn of next century. Sigh. ;)
