Yes, the encyclical was released earlier today, and, yes, the usual suspects began engaging in their usual suspect behavior, pouncing upon and denouncing what I am reasonably certain they had not had time enough to read, much less digest. And there are some who are so deadset against the Church that they cannot seem to hear anything she says about anything whatsoever at any given time anyway.
As for me, I downloaded a copy as soon as I got up this morning, but made the mistake of signing on to Twitter to post a quick note about it with some links. I shoulda known bettah. I’m just now getting away from there to do any serious reading and thinking. Sigh. I’ll be live-tweeting (follow at @disciple96) my reading throughout the day as I’m able and for however long the reading takes, hours, days, weeks. My first impressions are favorable, though, as in: Hey, the Pope’s still Catholic, whaddaya know?
