Let us take refuge, quote by St Ambrose

“Let us take refuge from this world. You can do this in spirit, even if you are kept here in the body. You can at the same time be here and present to the Lord. Your soul must hold fast to him, you must follow after him in your thoughts, you must tread his ways by faith, not in outward show. You must take refuge in him. He is your refuge and your strength.”

From the treatise on Flight from the World by Saint Ambrose, bishop.

I’m sitting in the den, thinking about what’s going on in the world right now. Got a cuppa on the warmer by the sofa. Pretty pillar candles burning on a table nearby. Never been a fan of harsh lighting. I’ve had these candles for years, now seems like a good time to use them. My soul needs some beauty. Came across that passage I quoted from Saint Ambrose while looking up something, and wanted to share it with you. A few quiet words in the night in a time of craziness all around.

Let us take refuge from this world…He is your refuge and your strength.

St. Ambrose, Flight from the World

I hope you’re well. I want you to know that I pray for all who drop by here, even if they do so by accident and run away fast. ;) Until next time then, whoever and wherever you are, stay safe and I hope you’ll come visit me again. May the Lord bless and keep you and yours, and may His peace be always with you. Amen. +JMJ+

    1. I’m hunkered down here with Miss Lucy Dawg. It’s almost like any other day for us. I have to stay away from people, during flu season especially, anyway. Thanks for reading and commenting, MR. I appreciate it. God bless ya!
