I have some guardedly* good news about the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible to share with you. I was watching a Scott Hahn video (see below) the other night, and in the opening minutes he mentioned that the ICSB Old Testament would be finished the next week (the video was dated September 2019 on YouTube), and sent off to the publisher. Publication would depend on the speed of the editorial process, but probably late 2020 or sometime in 2021. Well, I’ve heard various dates given before but this is the first time I’ve heard Dr. Hahn himself give such an update and the first time he’s said “It is finished,” regarding that series that has taken a legendarily long time to complete.

It’s been twenty one years. Hard to believe. I remember when that series began. I have most, if not all of the print single volumes, may be missing an Old Testament one though at one time I had them all. If I ever get my library/studio set up it would be a simple job to go into that room and check. As it is, books are in boxes upon boxes in multiple rooms. Thankfully, I have an extensive digital library or I’d go mad. So as happy as I’ll be when the one-volumne ICSB OT ships, I’ll be even happier when I can download the Verbum edition. I’ve got the rest of it in Verbum already, it was one of the very first things I bought when I first began using Verbum back in 2014. Highly recommended. It’s not perfect but it is very very useful.
Thanks for reading. Hope you’ll come back soon. Until next time, whoever and wherever you are, may the Lord bless you and keep you, and may the peace of Christ be always with you. +JMJ+

- Why guardedly? Because we’ve heard so many rumors about publication expectations that I almost decided not to share this with you at all. But this time it seems to be reasonably likely to happen. Let’s hope so, anyway.

Is there an Ignatious Catholic study bible that includes both old and new testament? I have many of the single Ignatious old testament books but find it difficult with so many books. I have a Jerusalem bible that has many references to old testament and have found it convenient to have old and new combined.

I hope they will offer a single volume edition, after they publish the complete OT. But I don’t know, haven’t heard anything about that yet. It’s been quite a while since I watched the video in this post, but I don’t remember him saying anything about that. If you hear anything, please let me know, okay? Thanks! And thanks for reading and commenting, Mary Jo. ❤️🙏

I know, right? It’s only been 21 years since their project began. Better late than never, I suppose. ;) Thanks for reading and replying, Regina. God bless!
