Quick update tonight because I had a really important breakthrough today and I’m so excited I can hardly stand it! I mean, this was a heart-pounding, head-rushing, Oh-my-I-can’t-believe-I-just-now-realized-that really important kind of breakthrough. And I had not one of these but two, both realizations hitting me right here in the second week of Camp NaNo. Wow. Wow! Other realizations have followed from those realizations and there’s just a chance that I might not be wasting my time trying to write this thing after all. ;)

What breakthroughs, you ask? Well, I can’t tell you much. But I can say that I finally realized what the basic story is (yeah, that is a rather important thing to finally catch onto) and also what every scene in this novel is primarily about, what it primarily has to show or dramatize. After two plus years of false starts and thinking I finally understood where I was going only to run up against another brick wall, this new understanding is a very important development. Whew! I’m so relieved I could dance around the house and run around the block.

Well, if I could dance and in my current state of health (or lack thereof) could run, that is. ;)
