The Imitation of Christ audiobook

Imitation of Christ cover, Confraternity of the Precious Blood editionI’ve been re-reading my Confraternity of the Precious Blood copy of the Imitation of Christ by Thomas a Kempis. It’s probably my second favorite book ever.* Imagine my joy when I found the Imitation of Christ as a free audio MP3 download at LibriVox just now. It’s not the CPB version but I guess I can’t have everything.

There’s even a printable CD booklet and album art on the page. Get the etext or subscribe in iTunes. Cool, yes? My iPod has become quite the devotional and study tool, I must say. I love technology. But most of all, I love the Lord, the faith, and those who also love the Lord and produce such marvelous goodies for the rest of us. God is so good!

*The Ignatius Catholic Study Bible NT is my favorite, RSV Second Catholic Edition with notes by Scott Hahn and Curtis Mitch. And my beautiful leather Ignatius Catholic Bible, and my beautiful leather Ignatius Catholic Bible NT, and my beautiful leather zipper cover Ignatius Catholic Bible. And my CPB pocket edition of the NT….Okay, I like reading the Bible, okay?

  1. I’ve been looking for an AUDIO Of: My Imitation of Christ,
But I would Very much prefer the translation/version from:
*Confraternity of The Precious Blood on the front cover. ..
which also states simply: *Revised Translation
    copyright is 1982
    – To see this exact edition/version hereis a picture of the little blue book from
    The Confraternity’s own Website: http://www.confraternitypb.org/images/bookstore/8L.html

I have ‘heard’ sample audios from 4 different translations available of this book…
and none are as beautiful to me as the one i seek.

I excitedly saw the link above which states this translation could be found at the Librivox website at: http://librivox.org/the-imitation-of-christ-by-thomas-a-kempis/
but I can’t figure out which one to download?
there are about 6 or 7 different options?
I have to be sure I choose the right one, the English-Version of this same translation..
However i am far from being download-handy.. and would very much appreciate the assistance!
    Peace be with you.

    1. Greetings, Jack. Good to meet you! :)

I have that same little blue book. It is, indeed, beautiful, the translation and the artwork.

I have no idea which translations are available on the Librivox site. But I doubt that they would have the CPB version which is probably under copyright. Librivox pretty much deals with public domain works. I’ll look at it… Hmm, I only see one English translation listed there which you can download in separate files or all together in a larger zip file. Any further info would have to be had from the Librivox site & staff.

Thank you for visiting, Jack. I hope you find an audio version to your liking. (You might want to ask the Confraternity about making an audio version if they haven’t done one. I suspect they haven’t. I know I haven’t heard of it, anyway.)

      Peace be with you. :)
