Lifenews has a good article about last night’s perfidy perpetrated in full view of the American public. Pro-life Democrats. Yeah, right. I thought that was a contradiction in terms a couple of years ago when I experienced an awakening and realized I could never think of myself as a Democrat again. And I was right! I still shudder to think that I ever voted for the party that uses the image of an @ss to represent itself. But I did. I was an idiot. I’m not saying that the Republican party is perfect, far from it. If they had been more pro-actively pro-life all along, we might be in a much better situation right now. (Song verse at end of this post.)
Phyllis Schlafly, president and founder of the conservative grassroots public policy organization Eagle Forum, said Stupak’s “sellout” revealed the “myth of the pro-life Democrat.”
“Stupak and his Democrat followers have now clarified that you cannot be pro-life and be a Democrat. If abortion was truly their biggest issue, they wouldn’t willfully align themselves with the Party of Death,” she said.
“This vote will expose the myth of the ‘pro-life Democrat.’ With this single vote, the Democratic Party will divide our nation into the Party of Death and the Party of Life, and future elections will never be the same,” she concluded. — Democrats for Life Sole Pro-Life Group Defending Pro-Abortion Bill, Stupak
I have rather strong feelings about the betrayal of the pro-life cause by Bart Stupak and pro-(cough)-life buds in the Democratic party. And I composed a little ditty in honor of them just now. Those who remember the show Hee Haw are invited to sing along with me at the top of your lungs. Here goes. Ahem!
Where, oh, where are the pro-life democrats?
Fleein’ from voters chasin’ ’em with bats!
The voters cheered for ’em,
but the Stupe just ignored ’em.
One word from Obama and tthhpppt! he was gone!
Thank ya, thank ya verra much. Argh. If I think of more verses, I’ll post ’em. Consider yourself forewarned.

I’m so sad about all of this. I’ve written a new anti-abortion post on my site: http://jwwartick.com/2010/03/23/abortion-not-logical/
I reissued my challenge. I challenge any pro-choice individual to make their case and see the implications. I issued the same challenge before, and no one dared, despite hundreds of views.
I pray this atrocity will end.

It is sad. Horribly sad. Sunday night I watched the proceedings, praying and praying that these politicians would wake up and realize what they were doing. I was proud of the Republicans for standing together in unity. Although I’m not so naive as to believe that they all voted against it for the right reasons, any more than I believe that all the Democrats who voted against it did so for the right reasons; some just thought it didn’t go far enough!
The passage of Scripture I’ve quoted below is one that I am turning to more and more now, in these “times that try men’s souls” (Thomas Paine, the American Crisis).

*Grin* Glad you like it, Betty. Sometimes a little satire helps heal a very deep wound.
