Somebody was wandering through the blog the other day and left a comment on a post I wrote about the Mass, Salvation and the Sacraments. (You’ll notice, I’m sure, that the comment has less than nothing to do with the post but is, instead, about Obama.)

Weiss – Devin (March 20, 2010 at 5:37 am): Barack Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope,” contains a catchy title. It has a taste of bravery mixed with full confidence. There’s nothing Pollyanna about it. I might not support almost everything he says, but he’s our president, and then for me, he inspires belief. Which could do more for just a country than any number of backroom deals. Hope gives us energy, and energy sustains us through trying times. Boy, we’ve had them. I’m from West Texas, and I did not vote for Bush. When McCain ran against Obama, I used to be a citizen of Arizona, but I gave audacious hope a chance. The fight for progress and laying the foundations of prosperity is just not over. I have come across the quips of those who don’t think Obama can do it. But step back a second. Would anyone have most of us fail simply to tarnish the star of an incumbent for whom they didn’t vote? Keeping our priorities straight, let’s work together with our president and build our future.

Disciple (March 22, 2010 at 2:48 pm): I approved this comment and let it show here but that doesn’t mean that I approve of any of the ideas in it. To tell you the truth, I don’t think I see a single idea in the comment that has anything at all to do with my post. Other posts that I have written, yes, but this one, nope, not a bit. Perhaps you were reading through my blog and decided to respond to another post and landed on this one by mistake. However you landed here, I will respond to your comment anyway.

There is nothing of hope or inspiration to be found in Barack Obama or in any of his actions or in any of his words. There are only lies and deception. I do not want this country to fail and that is why I oppose Obama and everything he stands for. I am not fooled by his ridiculous rhetoric. I am not fooled by his talk of transformation. I’ve seen these things happen in other countries.

You would do well to study history and wake up to what socialism really means. It does NOT mean prosperity. It means the end of prosperity. It does not mean hope. It means the turning away from hope, which can only come from Christ. Contrary to what you wrote above, it is most definitely not energy “which sustains us through trying times”. It is truth, goodness, mercy and love which is found only in God, not in Barack Hussein Obama.

And I’d like to add a few words about this:

You don’t support everything he says, Devin? I do not support what Obama is doing, which is fundamentally transforming our society into a socialist one. He inspires belief for you, Devin? For me, God inspires belief and Obama inspires horror. And I find it almost hilarious that you would mention “backroom deals”, Devin, because that is exactly what Obama said he would not do and is exactly what he did. He lied, he bamboozled, he threatened, he got what he wanted. And we got what we deserved for sleeping while our country went to hell in a hand-bucket for so many years. But we’re not sleeping any more. Every Democrat I know deserves a swift kick in the pants. It’s time to wake them up too. And get our country on the road to recovery. The road back to God, Goodness, Mercy and Truth.

A full 180 degress, in other words, from everything Barack Obama and the Democratic Left stands for.
